WHY IN THE NEWS
Instagram's CEO, Adam Mosseri, highlighted the photo-sharing app's primary goals for 2022 on Tuesday, including a focus on video. Videos, communications, transparency, and creators are the four major areas on which the Meta-owned site will focus in the coming year, according to him. The Instagram CEO also discussed important enhancements to the app this year, such as sensitive content moderation and the ability to conceal like counts. This year, Instagram also announced Limits and Hidden Words, which restrict abusive direct message (DM) requests.
Mosseri shared Instagram's basic aims for 2022 in a video on Twitter. 'We'll have to reassess what Instagram is because the world is changing at a rapid pace, and we'll have to adjust with it,' Mosseri added. Mosseri outlines Instagram's goals for 2022 in the video, which include videos, messaging, transparency, and creators. Instagram's sensitivity filter was debuted in July of this year. the company plans to focus more on controls in the next year. Instagram plans to combine all of its video formats around Reels in the next year.
'We're going to double down on our focus on video, since we're no longer simply a photo-sharing app,' he said, adding that 'we're going to combine all of our video formats under Reels and continue to expand that product.' In the coming year, Instagram will focus on message and increase its work on controls to boost transparency, according to Mosseri. He promised that Instagram would launch additional monetisation options to assist and empower producers on the network to make a living. 'We're considering who we are, what we value, and the type of change we want to see in the world,' Mosseri explained. Mosseri also discusses the features that Instagram implemented this year to give users greater control over their feeds and profiles in the video. Controls to censor sensitive information, a 'hidden like count' tool, and a 'limits' feature are among them.
People may set limitations on how much potentially sensitive information they see on their 'Explore' page using the sensitivity filter, which was debuted in July. Users can conceal the amount of likes on their posts using the hide like count option. Limits hide comments and DM requests from persons who don't follow the user or who have just begun following the user.
For the time being, Instagram's Profile Embed functionality is only available
Instagram is receiving a new feature that allows users to embed a mini-version of their profile on their websites. Users may now embed their Instagram content on third-party sites or connect to someone else's profile using the new Profile Embed feature. Along with the Profile Embed, Instagram has emphasised the recently announced Playback tool for Instagram Stories and Reels Visual Replies. Users may create an end-of-year compilation of up to 10 Stories to share with their followers using the Playback tool. The Reels Visual Replies feature allows you to react to a comment with a 60-second Reels video.
In a video posted to Twitter on Friday, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri announced the launch of the Profile Embed feature. 'For many years, you've been able to embed an Instagram photo or video onto a website. This builds on that concept by allowing you to embed a mini-version of your Instagram profile on a website,' Mosseri explained. People will be able to get a preview of the Instagram handle using Profile Embed. For the time being, the updated functionality is only available in the United States. It will enable Instagram artists, companies, and enterprises to promote their accounts on third-party websites. The business hasn't revealed any information on the Profile Embed feature's global launch.
Mosseri also discusses two other new features released by the photo-sharing site earlier this week in the video. As previously noted, Instagram Playback allows you to relive a selected selection of your Stories from the previous year. The feature provides a summary of the user's top ten Stories from 2021. Another feature is Reels Visual Replies, which allows you to react to a comment with a Reels movie of up to 60 seconds. Mosseri advised Instagram producers to use the tool to communicate with their followers and grow their numbers. While replying to a remark, you'll see the Visual Replies option. You may choose it to make a video reply with the comment appearing as a sticker.
